Meeting in Linz
Biannual project steering committee meeting was held in Linz on 5. – 6.11.2018. We discussed project progress and upcoming events
Twenty people from 11 partner organisations arrived in the Monday morning to a quiet boardroom in the middle of beautiful historic city centre of Linz. After a short rest following long ride and greetings, project progress evaluation and upcoming activities in the project were on the agenda. During the breaks, people were gossiping about famous lynxes (Jiskra, Luděk, Jura…) and local issues. The day was concluded by a pleasant dinner when we have time to catch-up with all work-related and personal news. The second day was oriented on more strategic issues concerning lynx monitoring and conservation strategy preparation. We arranged a small workshop with only eight lynx expert to compare individual lynx from their monitoring area to be sure they count each animal only once. The experts need to go through quite a few hundred pictures, but after that, we will have a clear picture about their quantity and family relationships in area Bohemia-Bavaria-Austria.
We also continued in preparation of common conservation strategy. We analysed strengths and weaknesses we have to address in the document. Our draft will be discussed with the stakeholders groups to make strategy functional and beneficial.
