The new CNG buses already operating in Nyíregyháza
Municipality of Nyíregyháza won 41 CNG (working with compressed natural gas) buses with 100% financing rate in frame of Integrated Traffic-Development Operative Program. The buses and the related CNG filling station will be operated by the ÉMKK (North Hungarian Transport Center) which are the regional public transport operator. The public really likes the new vehicles.
Currently 84 buses operates in Nyíregyháza covered the 27 downtown and the 7 suburban bus lines, transporting 17 million passengers per year. The average age of the vehicles was 14,4 so far, but with the new buses almost 50% of local vehicle stock are replaced and the average age will fall under 6 year. Most of the new buses will run in the downtown to satisfy the higher passenger traffic demands.
