Novy Bydzov hosted a training seminar informing about the results of the AMIIGA project
Novy Bydzov hosted on April 24, 2018, a training seminar for hydrogeologists, environmental consultants, sampling and analytical experts focusing on exploratory procedures for the assessment of soil and groundwater contamination by chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons, as well as on analytical determination of volatile organic compounds in groundwater. The seminar was organized by the company Forsapi.
Mr. Petr Kohout (Forsapi) acquainted participants in the opening part of the seminar with the history and the current state of pollution of the soil and groundwater with chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons in the Novy Bydžov FUA, as well as with the methods used for the pollution investigation and with the remediation procedures applied for the restoration of the groundwater quality. Ms. Magda Nechanická with Ms. Denisa Vlkova (Technical University of Liberec) prepared a lecture devoted to the application of molecular-genetic methods in the assessment of groundwater pollution and the results of their use in the framework of the international project AMIIGA (INTERREG Central Europe CE32). Last lecture of Vladislav Knytl (DEKONTA a.s.) was devoted to the principles and application of the MIP (Membrane Interface Probe) method for the investigation of pollution of the soil and groundwater by organic matter.
Practical part of the training seminar was focused on training participants in collecting samples of groundwater for pollution monitoring purposes, which took place at selected monitoring wells in Nový Bydžov. The aim of the practical part of the seminar was also to verify the comparability of the results of the participating laboratories for the determination of chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbons and dissolved gases of their decomposition (methane, ethane, ethene) in the groundwater taken from the monitoring wells.
The training seminar was attended by 24 participants. Participation in practical interlaboratory testing was undertaken by 6 laboratories that provide groundwater sampling and analyzes to clients in the Czech Republic.
