BEECH POWER partners reunited in Angermünde

On September 16th and 17th, the first offline BEECH POWER project meeting took place, after a long distance work phase due to the pandemic. On Thursday afternoon, ten representatives of all seven BEECH POWER project partners were able to come together at Haus Uckermark in Angermünde. On the first day, the work package leaders gave an overview on the status of their work packages so far. In the evening, the project group then jointly attended the symposium for the 10th anniversary of the World Heritage Beech Forest Grumsin in the church of Altkünkendorf, where Frederik Bewer, the mayor of Angermünde and Axel Vogel, the Minister of the Environment of Brandenburg moderated through a festive program. The three BEECH POWER project partners Domen Kocjan, Ivana Adžić and Simone Mayrhofer, representing component parts of the World Heritage in Slovenia, Croatia and Austria, were invited to take part in a panel discussion where they competently answered various questions concerning topics relevant for their component parts.

On Friday, the BEECH POWER project steering committee meeting continued at Haus Uckermark where the partners were planning the last phase of the project. A common roadmap was developed to ensure that all events and outputs will be completed in time. The project meeting ended on Friday afternoon with a joint excursion to the World Heritage Site Grumsin, guided by Martin Flade, the head of the Biosphere Reserve Schorfheide Chorin.
