The COMODALCE project presented at the General Assembly of the CIVITAS PORTIS project
The Port of Trieste presented the COMODALCE project during the 4th General Assembly of the CIVITAS PORTIS project, held in Klaipeda (Lithuania) on September 5th 2019.
Through CIVITAS PORTIS, funded by the Horizon 2020 Programme, five European cities (Klaipeda, Aberdeen, Antwerp, Trieste and Costanta) will test innovative and sustainable urban mobility solutions in five European port cities. Within CIVITAS PORTIS, the Port of Trieste will improve the management of the Port gates through new ICT equipment and software in order to optimize the entry and exit of trucks, thus reducing the environmental impact of the port-related transport flows.
Against this background, COMODALCE is complementary to CIVITAS PORTIS: by focusing on making railway transport more competitive, it also contributes to achieving goals of sustainability and efficiency.
In particular, the ca. 40 participants to the event appreciated the role of ICT as a powerful leverage for modal shift from road to rail.
