Forget Heritage InfoDay- Rijeka
The City of Rijeka’s team has held the third info day for the project FORGET HERITAGE at the National conference of the project CE Interreg GreenerSites.
On January 18th 2019, the National Conference of the GreenerSites project (Interreg Central Europe 2014/2020) was held in the hall of the Jadran Hotel in Rijeka, which offered a wide range of proposals for measures for the reconstruction of the former refinery area of Mlaka (Rijeka). This location and solutions for its renaming were used for the pilot project of the Port Authority, partner from Rijeka, contributing to the main project objectives of the Greenersites European project.
11 partners from 5 Central European countries work together and deal with integrated Brownfield management, as well as the development and implementation of possible solutions. The main project impacts include tools, action plans, pilot actions and education and, to ensure that these effects and experiences are transferable beyond the project, a common manual for the sustainable management of Brownfield areas will be developed.
The close thematic to Forget Heritage project and the goals in common are the reason the project partners from Rijeka decided to join the conference and present FH project and pilot action. Also, the conference was a great melting pot of various stakeholders, which serves as a good platform in exchanging experiences and advices.
Three main themes at the national conference - the spatial planning approach, rehabilitation studies/measures and future plans related to the topic, as well as the linkage with other projects in the interest of the City of Rijeka- were analyzed. Collaborators presented their views on behalf of the relevant institutions and professional companies in this area, from which the presentations were presented:

- Marina Smokvina from the Architecture Office Svebor Andrijević
- Luka Traven from the Education Department of Public Health Primorsko-Goranska Region
- Damir Zec, Professor at the Maritime Faculty in Rijeka
- Helija Dokić from the firm Ind-Eko
- Suzana Belošević, from the City of Rijeka
As the conference went by, Ingrid and Sonja talked about the Forget Heritage project. The current status of the project was presented and we spoke about next period’s plans. Produced documents from this time’s period have also been explained. The opening of the ReUse showroom was announced. Management Manual and printed gadgets were distributed.
