Transnational baselining and monitoring with stakeholder involvement

Period: September 2016 -  March 2019
Budget: 410.085 euro

This thematic work package links the project to different stakeholders to obtain transnational baseline data to assess the effects, nature and extent of indoor environment quality specifically on air quality and its impacts on the human health.
The baselining activity will feature the gathering of all the already available data about indoor pollution in schools assessing its health impacts at transnational scale. The activity will be carried out by each state partner, and will thus provide a starting point for all InAirQ activities.
The transnational baseline analysis will be co-ordinated  and data will be systematized in order to set up Virtual Health Repository.

The activities in detail:

A.T2.1: Baseline analysis
National vulnerability assessments and SWOT analyses will be prepared by knowledge providing institutions (NPHC, NIOM, NIJZ, NIPH, SiTI) to assess and explore the actual risks of indoor air pollution in line a jointly developed methodology. There is close correlation between in- & outdoor air quality. Outdoor air quality data will be compared the measured data to quantify the correlation and estimate Indoor Air Quality Health Index (inAQHI).
Comparative vulnerability assessment and SWOT analyses will define actions needed to tackle the challenges. The Repository will serve as an aid for the beneficiaries to implement and update local actions will be defined in WP T3 (Action Plans and Capacity Building). Coordinated by NPHC

A.T2.2: Virtual Health Repository
InAirQ project will put in place a tool to collect and trace health risk through calculated health index and the exposure ventilation factors: CO2, NO2, CO, exhalation of harmful compounds: formaldehyde, benzene, naphthalene, PAHs, radon, and microclimatic factors e.g. temperature and humidity.
The tool will be operated by NPHC based on a joint specification, for processing and comparison exposure ventilation & microclimatic factors, exhalation of harmful compounds. The tool will be made available for all project PPs, stakeholders and interested parties free of charge. It will be operating and maintained after the project ending by NPHC.

A.T2.3: Environment Quality Forum
The baselining and monitoring together with the Repository outputs will be consulted in workshops attended by partners and stakeholders. Involvement of local stakeholders and other Central Europe authorities, networks will be achieved by establishing and operating the bottom-up EQ Forums. All pilot partners (Várpalota, OS-KDK, NIPH, MOL and FpS) will organize such stakeholder teams whose composition will be tailored to the existing decision mechanisms in the partner areas. Coordinated by the pilot partners.
