About the event
From 2019 on, the City of Angermünde (Germany), Slovenia Forest Service (Slovenia) and the National Park Paklenica (Croatia) cooperate within the BEECH POWER project. The main purpose of this cooperation is the development of World Heritage Beech Communities as models for ecosystem-based sustainable development. Following a participatory approach, we developed strategies and implemented several pilot activities to promote the regional anchoring of the World Heritage (WH) site ‘Ancient and Primeval Beech Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe’ and to improve the management quality of the WH site through enhancing cross-stakeholder cooperation and the involvement of the local population.
The main objective of this conference is to:
- share the experiences and results obtained within the work package “Empowering World Heritage Beech Communities as models for ecosystem-based sustainable development”,
- discuss further opportunities for WH Beech Communities as drivers for sustainable regional development and
- jointly define requirements, options and key points for enhanced regional cooperation and development of WH Beech Forest Communities.
