LR - Lodzkie Region

Who we are

The Lodzkie Region (LR) is one of 16 regional self-government authorities in Poland and it's inhabited by 2.5 mln people, which ranks it sixth in the country.

It is the Managing Institution of the Regional Operational Program, coordinator of the implementation of the Smart Specialization and Innovation strategy and the provider of information on the EU opportunities and policies in the Region, e.g. through the Regional Office of the Lodzkie Region in Brussels, and the Lodzkie's Marshal's membership in the Committee of the Regions for the last 3 years.

Lodzkie Region has been constantly realizing numerous projects co-financed by the EU under the EFS and ERDF, including projects on international scale to deal with the most pressing issues, develop active citizen participation and increase identity with the region.

What we do

Lodzkie Region is responsible inter alia for the socio-economic development of the region, including the stimulation of economic activity and improve the competitiveness and innovation of the region's economy. The Lodzkie Region supports the development of economic activity in the labor market through its institutions, which realise action to promote employment and labor market development in the region, i.e.: Regional Employment Office and the Regional Centre of Social Policy. Łódzkie is in the process of becoming a member of ACR+ the Association of Cities and Regions for Recycling and sustainable Resource management – which is an international network of members who share the common aim of promoting smart resource consumption and waste management. The region has also been taking significant steps towards active participation in the EU Circular Economy and waste policy debates for example by joining projects promoting managing products and processes to reduce the volume of waste materials as well as conserve and recover all resources.


The role of LR in InAirQ project

LR is pilot partner in InAirQ project. It will collect and verify data for qualifying and quantifying vulnerability on indoor air quality in schools. These data will be fed to the Virtual Health Repository as national time-series data. The Office, with full responsibility, will organise and operate the PL Environment Quality Forum inviting and involving City of Lodz, primary and secondary schools from all over the region and real estate operators are in charge of schools management. MOL will contribute to draft Indoor Air Quality Action Plans (AP) and it will implement it. To test the planned measurements and policy actions of the draft AP, the Lodzkie Region will launch pilot activities in selected representative schools. The awareness raising campaign (pilot #1) will be a regional event involving City of Lodz and other big cities. LR will hold capacity building courses in line with a joint training curriculum developed together with NIOM. The Marshal Office will benefit from implementation the Indoor Air Quality Action Plans which is a new bottom-up approach for schools managers tackle adverse health impacts of indoor air. Primary and secondary schools from the region will be involved in the pilot projects and will be capability to change the learning environment and improve the health of the school-aged children. Shared experiences and transferred knowledge inside the partnership will be capitalised through joint public events and the capacity building trainings.
