After more than four years of intensive work and cooperation, we concluded our project in a final conference on 4th November 2020. Our final conference took place as an online format.

On 3rd November 2020, the TRANS-BORDERS steering committee met for the last time.
The seventh TRANS-BORDERS project meeting took place in Ljubljana (Slovenia). The meeting was organized in a hybrid format: part of our consortium was on site, the rest could participate via video conference.

To strengthen the connections within the border triangle, we investigated and planned a bus line from Zittau via Bogatynia to the Czech town Frýdlant v Čechách, with a connection to the Polish health resort Świeradów-Zdrój on weekends.

In 2019, a new cross border bus line was designed and a financing and pricing model was developed. In July and August 2020, the operation of the Strekna bus enters with minor modifications in the second stage.

On 17th and 18th September 2019 the TRANS-BORDERS steering committee met for the fifth time. We had a good exchange of project experiences in Slovenj Gradec (Slovenia).

On 1st July 2019, the test service between Görlitz and Zgorzelec, and with the use of interchanges, a connection to the recreation area Berzdorfer See started.

To present ideas and concepts for cross-border bus services between Görlitz and Zgorzelec, the conference “Ideas for the future of urban transport in the European city of Görlitz/Zgorzelec” was hold on 12 March 2019.

Our third partner meeting took place in Bolesławiec, Poland. In preparation for our Mid-term conference, the progress of the work were discussed and evaluated.

Our TRANS-BORDERS experts accompanied a press-conference with experts, operators of passenger transport services and decision makers concerning the summer-train between Maribor (Slovenia) and Bleiburg (Austria).

This workshop focused on current problems and demands as well as presented best practice solutions in terms of cross-border public transport within Central Europe.

One approach of TRANS-BORDERS is to get in contact with central European peripheral cross-border regions with good solutions in terms of public transportation.
