THE KETGATE PROJECT PROMOTED WITHIN THE EIT FOOD AWARENESS DAY IN KOPRIVNICA (CROATIA)

The event took place in Koprivnica (Croatia), on 23 January 2020, at the University of North Croatia, in cooperation with the EUVITA cluster.

EIT Food Awareness Day is an event that promotes the activities of the agri-food sector and the importance of the project itself for future generations and its potential participants. The project seeks to empower innovators, entrepreneurs and students to develop first-class solutions to societal challenges, accelerate innovation, create jobs and increase Europe's competitiveness.
The aim of the event is to get to know the EIT Food community, raise awareness of the challenges in the agri-food sector, offer insights into EIT Food solutions, and identify possible synergies and networking opportunities. The focus is also on presenting the mission of the program to the general public, catalyzing the transformation of the food system and effectively meeting the global needs of the food sector for present and future generations by building, managing and empowering a sustainable and trusted community with a clear focus on the consumer.

The workshop was attended by representatives of TERA Tehnopolis d.o.o., the director, prof.  Ivan Štefanić, PhD, and expert associate Ivana Dumančić, MSc(Econ), who introduced the participants to the projects implemented by TERA Tehnopolis. The participants were also informed on the KETGATE project and the activities in which they could engage. Among the attendees, there were also Zvonimir Novak, M.Sc, from the EUVITA cluster and associate professor Bojan Šarkanj PhD, the head of the Department of Food Technology of the University of North.

Various topics were discussed during the event, which was mostly focused on the development of creative thinking and the improvement of practical and innovative entrepreneurial skills. Furthermore, the participants have found out more about the new industry and bioeconomics, as well as about the opportunity for the new development, especially the development of young people as the initiators of innovations. They have also learnt about the significance of the cross-sector/interdisciplinary collaboration through business internationalisation.
