Hackathon in Slovakia: A virtual event Hack the Crisis Slovakia took place from April 3 to April 5. More than 500 people participated in this event during the 48-hours. Dozens of solutions were developed for current medical, social and economic problems caused by a coronavirus. In total 23 projects were created.

Example from Germany
The German government called to hack the crisis and 42,869 participants followed the call. The goal of the hackathon called #wirvsvirus was to find innovative solutions to the challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The result: over 800 ideas on topics such as shopping, childcare, and symptom monitoring. A jury then decided which projects were to receive government funding to further work and develop their projects.

Example from Austria
More than 500 participants took part in the “Hack the Crisis” online hackathon that was held at the end of March. The goal was to create new solutions to face the challenge that the coronavirus is. Over a weekend, a total of 52 projects that especially aim to tackle the problems caused by the Covid-19 outbreak were developed. The projects are from various areas and are categorized into sectors like “economy”, “education”, “emergency respond”, “health sector” and “others” and are meant to help companies through the crisis, give people advice for correct behavior, implement voucher systems to keep sales up for companies or help teachers and students to still conduct classes in the best possible way through online solutions. After the Hackathon was held over 40 project teams were formed to work on the ideas and projects that were created throughout “Hack the Crisis”. Example from Italy
“Civic Action” calls for best civic practices and experiences that emerged during the pandemic. The emergency phase triggered by Covid-19 put a strain on our country, but it was also an opportunity to test our social system and the ability of the Third Sector to propose civic based solutions. Civic Action is a call for practices launched by Italia Sociale Foundation, in collaboration with Onde Alte and Sky TG24. The call is open to individuals, organizations, businesses in every sector, and all those people who have generated experiences of social value helping alleviate social discomfort in all possible ways.
Civic Action wants to collect all those experiences and practices that have the potential to develop even after the emergency, to form the basis of a new and more strong civic fabric.
Stories of experiences and practices can fall into one of the following areas of interest: Art and culture, Education, Environment, Governance, Travel, Solidarity in action, Media and entertainment, Economy and Work, Health and wellness.
At the end of the initiative, an e-book will be made available to everyone in digital format: it will encompass the entire path of the Civic Action, including the profiles of the protagonists and the stories and good practices with greater social added value. Among these, 5 will be selected by the team as stories to be told by the protagonists in a live meeting on SkyTg24.

Participants - programmers, designers, marketers, doctors, teachers, representatives of non-governmental organizations, startups and enthusiasts of new technologies, during 54h online cooperation, created, verified and presented projects that can help solve the biggest challenges associated with a pandemic.

Companies develop solutions that help cities and point out how to cope better in a pandemic.

The goal of COVID CHALLENGE is real support for medical facilities in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic. It consists of developing effective and simple to implement solutions for the most pressing problems: lack of medical and auxiliary equipment, personal protective equipment and security. Based on the needs described by the medics themselves, a base of challenges has been created and unusual, potentially improvised ideas for devices, solutions that respond to these needs are sought.
