Professor Veena Sahajwalla, Sydney based scientist, engineer, director of the UNSW Sydney SMaRT Centre and Eureka Prize winner is a very special person with incredible drive that has earned her the nickname "Queen of Waste". She is an activist who is devoting her immense abilities, knowledge and energy to combat the waste-creating economic processes. 

For her, there is no "waste". In her eyes, every single product is a resource, whether it is currently used or no longer needed for it's original purpose. The story of prof. Sahajwalla is very interesting and inspirational, and you can read it, in its entirety, HERE....
