ARBEIT IST UNSICHTBAR - Museum Arbeitswelt Accessible for All Exhibition Launch

03.05.2018

SAVE THE DATE - The Arbeitswelt Steyr Museum will launch its new exhibition accessible for all on 3rd May 2018!

In line with the COME-IN! Guidelines the museums involved in the project have been introducing a set of interventions to make their museums accessible.

The Arbeitswelt Museum, set between the picturesque banks of the Steyr river in Austria, is the second of the six museum involved in the project to have completed the works considered necessary to become a museum accessible to all.

The interventions consisted in infrastructural works (accessible parking lot, lockers, wardrobe), improvement of communication means (revision of signals, description adapted to visually and hearing impaired users), and development of orientation maps containing pictograms. Moreover, the Museum will provide a tactile model of the exhibition area, magnifying glasses, and an accessible website to facilitate the visit for all. Last but not least, the Museum foresees accessible guided tours and educational programs open for all and all free of charge.

The exhibition will be launched on May 3rd, 2018 at 14.00 p.m. with an accessible Presentation and will be on display until December 2020. For the first two weeks, the exhibition and guided visits will be free of charge. Link to the invitation available here.
