LOCAL PILOT IN ITALY: METHODOLOGY TO MEASURE AND EVALUATE SOCIAL IMPACT OF PROJECTS.

A methodology to measure and evaluate the social impact of projects.

How can you evaluate the impact of a Social Innovation Project ? This was the main objective of Unione dei Comuni Distretto Ceramico's pilot: focus on impact assessment and build, with the help of professional experts, a methodology to measure and evaluate the social impact of two Union’s projects
The two projects subject of the impact assessment are two initiatives that the Union has been running for some years together with a local Foundation. One project is called “Social Pacts for an active citizenship” and wants to combat social exclusion and financial difficulty while the second one is called “Young Protagonists” and targets young people not employed that come from families in social and economic difficulties.
The Union would like this methodology to be transferable and therefore would like to internalise skills and tools to implement social impact assessment to any future project. The bigger aim is to become more effective, evaluate the real impact of social initiatives, increase the transparency of public administration and strengthen the planning of new projects and initiatives.
