URBAN GREEN ACUPUNCTURE – THE WAY TO ENLARGE GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE IN URBAN AREAS
Experience from SALUTE4CE - Final project webinar
22 March 2022 | 10:00 – 15:45
SALUTE4CE project offers a solution for cities which - due to their spatial and functional system – have problems with finding large areas for greenery. In SALUTE4CE a concept of URBAN GREEN ACUPUNCTURE has been elaborated meaning point injecting of greenery into an urban tissue. This activity allows to achieve improvement of aesthetics values, life quality and adaptation to climate change by increasing of thermal comfort as well as strengthening of ecosystem services in an urban area. A sufficiently dense network of such spots is a condition of achieving these effects. This approach has been tested among 4 partners: Chorzów city (PL), Impulse Region, represented by Erfurt, Jena, Apolda and Weimar (GER), city of Alessandria (IT) and city of Liptovsky Mikulas (SK). Altogether 16 pilot investments have been implemented in these cities.
SALUTE4CE was started on 1 April 2019, and the final webinar is the presentation, after three years, of the project results. The Webinar was an opportunity to discuss the present problems in land use including management of greenery in functional urban areas with the participation of many actors such as Polish and foreign representatives of public regional and local authorities, architects, urban planners, researchers and more.
SALUTE4CE has been implemented in the framework of INTERREG Programme for Central Europe. Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas in Katowicewas the project leader. The project consortium has engaged 10 partners from 5 countries: Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland and Slovakia.
