Networking and study visits in Kapfenberg, Austria

More than 50 representatives of the Regional Observatories - business support institutions - gathered in Kapfenberg (Austria) to discuss regional innovations and joint plans for the future.

All of that, due to the international workshop organised as part of the European project SMART_watch. So far the participants have visited Gliwice (Poland), Lublin (Poland), Debrecen (Hungary) and Maribor (Slovenia).

The first day of the event, 27th March was reserved for the Steering Committee meeting and Technical Meeting, where Partners involved in the project talked about upcoming deadlines, deliverabls, and project next steps. Afterwards, participants could visit the SMART Production Lab in FH Joanneum,  one of Austria’s largest “Industry 4.0” teaching and research factories.

The workshops, which took place on 28th and 29th March at the Austrian FH Joanneum University, aimed to strengthen and deepen the relationship between the Observatories and to develop plans for the future. The participants of the meeting had the opportunity to discuss their troublesome problems, look for the best solutions and discuss the next goals to be achieved. They could also establish new cooperation and look for partners for new projects.

Another important point of the event included local study visits. Modern and fully programmed production lines, perfectly mastered safety rules for high-temperature processing of metals and numerous examples of excellent cooperation between cluster members in the field of woodworking - all these topics were discussed during meetings with local entrepreneurs. The exchange of good practices and the seeking of common future goals to be achieved were the main reason for organizing these international meetings.

This is not the end of the exchange of common experiences. The next meeting for representatives of the network of European Regional Observatories is scheduled for September, this time in Piedmont, Italy.
