3rd partner meeting in Zagreb

The RAINMAN partnership met for the 3rd partner meeting in the Croatian capital Zagreb. The meeting took place on the 13th and 14th of June. During these two days the partners presented their ongoing activities, had fruitful discussions and decided on the next steps.

On the first day of the partner meeting Croatian experts gave an insight into flood risk management and hydrological aspects of heavy precipitations analyses in Croatia. In the following presentations and discussion the partnership focused on assessment and mapping of heavy rain risks. This topic is of high relevance in different work packages and will feed into the RAINMAN Toolbox as tool 1.

On the second day the partners set a focus on risk reduction measures to reduce damages of heavy rain risks. Based on a scoping study on risk reduction measures different project partners informed about experiences from the pilot activities. Measures in the fields of “early warning and emergency response”, “risk reduction by regional planning”, “prevention for urban areas and private structures” and “retention concepts and optimization for storage management” were furthermore discussed in working sessions. These categories will also be covered by tool 2 in the RAINMAN Toolbox.

Thanks to Croatian Waters for hosting this productive meeting in the lovely city of Zagreb!

The next partner meeting will take place in Meißen in November 2018.
