THE SECOND RIG MEETING ON JAWORZNO FUA
On the 4th of June, 2018, Municipality of Jaworzno (PP2) and the Central Mining Institute in Katowice (LP) organized the second RIG meeting devoted to the discussion about the draft of groundwater management plan for the Jaworzno FUA.
Representatives of institutions and authorities responsible for ground and surface water management for the Jaworzno Functonal Urban Area, and for environmental management and monitoring, representatives of neighboring cities, representatives of Chemical Plant „Organika-Azot” Joint Stock Company, Municipality Office in Jaworzno and Polish associated partners of the AMIIGA project, have met in Jaworzno to discuss the way to realize the aims of the project pointed for the Jaworzno FUA region and opportunities of potential and actual implementation of the cooperatively developed groundwater management plan.
During the meeting, among the other issues, an absolute demand for the development of the alarm system concept implemented under the AMIIGA project have been expressed. The regional monitoring concept (for the scale of the regional model) will include water intakes located in the Triassic area, while the more detailed - local in the region of Chemical Plant, will include the Carboniferous intake of Jarosław Dąbrowski. The proper functioning of regional alarm system depends strongly on availability of data from monitoring points at regional scale.
At the end of the meeting, attention was drawn to the existing Water Management Plan (PGW) for Wisła Watershed, in which all the Uniform Parts of Underground and Surface Waters are characterized along with the activities. The possibility of implementing the results of AMIIGA's works to this general Water Management Plan, with indications of the steps necessary to take, aimed at maintaining good or not decreasing the existing water status, was considered. Comments/suggestions officially introduced to this plan (PGW) will be obligatory for institutions responsible for water management in Poland. The next update of the water management plan will be made in 2023, however, proposals for change/completion can be submitted already from now on.
