City of Koprivnica and REAN introduced the first Croatian Living Lab

Koprivnica became the first Croatian and Southeast European City that has obtained a Living Lab! The opening ceremony took place on the 12th of March and the BOOSTEE-CE partnership had the pleasure to also take part in the event.

Living Lab Opening

The Living Lab provides manufacturers the opportunity to test and promote products, while consumers can visit the Living Lab and verify the quality of the products on-site. The project is based on a cooperation between public lighting companies, scientists, the public sector and citizens who are seeking ways to improve living conditions. New intelligent public lighting test zones were set up in a vital area of the City of Koprivnica, the Lenisce neighborhood. The project developer is the City of Koprivnica, while the Regional Energy Agency North manages the project with the primary aim of using and discovering more about the energy-saving LED-based public lighting.

The new luminaries provide pleasant and evenly distributed illumination, design flexibility, improved colour temperature and environmentally friendly design. Besides REA North and City of Koprivnica, partners involved in the project are high-tech companies (Detas, Horfam, Omega Software, Elektrokovina Lighting, Energyplus, Lipapromet and LED elektronika), playing a key role. Although the Living Lab Koprivnica is currently limited to public lighting, there are ideas for extending the concept in the field of sustainable development, electromobility, etc.
