CWC events in Bydgoszcz Waterworks Museum
On March 8, 2022 the City of Bydgoszcz together with Municipal Waterworks in Bydgoszcz (MWiK in Bydgoszcz) organised two meetings in the framework of the CWC City Water Circles project together with a press conference on the premises of the Waterworks Museum at the Las Gdański. Invited guests were welcomed by Mr. Stanislaw Drzewiecki - Chairman of MWiK in Bydgoszcz and Mr. Grzegorz Boroń - Director of Department of Integrated Development and Environment, Bydgoszcz City Hall.
The first meeting was dedicated to the stakeholders of the project, which are among others: representatives of MWiK, Technical University of Bydgoszcz, City Hall of Toruń, MPU in Bydgoszcz, representatives of departments of City Hall.

In this part of the meeting Mrs. Aleksandra Kowalska - Deputy Director of the Department of Integrated Development and Environment, Office of the City of Bydgoszcz familiarized the participants with the results of the CWC project, starting with the presentation of the basic information about the project, then she pointed out the pilot investments realized in Bydgoszcz, and presented the Strategy of Closed Water Cycle Management for Bydgoszcz-Toruń Functional Area and action plan for the City of Bydgoszcz.
Then Ms. Ewa Świerkula from the Foundation Institute for Sustainable Development discussed the educational materials and events developed within the project, and then an inspiring video was presented showing good practices from Berlin concerning rainwater and grey water.

In connection with the upcoming celebration of the Water Day (22 March 2022), the second meeting was dedicated to the summary of the project, in particular the implemented pilot investments.
First, the participants got acquainted with pilot projects implemented by partners from abroad (B. Katarzyna Napierała, Department of Integrated Development and Environment, Bydgoszcz City Hall). E.g. Zuglo demonstrates the use of rainwater and grey water in a kindergarten. At the University of Split, water consumption monitoring using wireless technology was used to reduce water consumption. In Turin, an urban youth hostel set up a recreation area on the roof of the building, an aeroponic greenhouse to grow herbs and a rain garden in the ground next to the building to reuse rainwater. In Maribor, on the other hand, rainwater and treated wastewater were used to produce recycled building materials in a municipal company producing building materials.
Ms. Hanna Lewandowska (Energy Management Office, Bydgoszcz City Hall) presented the pilot investment realized by the City of Bydgoszcz, located at the City Hall building, 9-15 Grudziądzka St. As part of the investment, a rain garden in a container was created in front of the front wall of building A. Ms. Aleksandra Rajczyk and Mr. Jacek Ciescinski (MWiK in Bydgoszcz) presented a pilot investment realized by MWiK on the premises of Waterworks Museum in Bydgoszcz at 242 Gdańska Street. Here the investment included several types of alternative solutions for rainwater management.

The substantive meeting ended with a walk, during which the participants were first guided along the MWiK educational path on the trail of historic water and sewage equipment. Then Ms Aleksandra Rajczyk showed us a wide range of solutions applied in the pilot project by MWiK, starting from rainwater storage barrels, pots, a rain garden (with a sealed and filtration part).
