Europe has a immense textile waste problem
Croatian fact checking website, Faktograf brings a story on a grand-scale European and Croatian problem with textile waste.
Although the legislation, that should ensure reuse and recycling exists, in practice the wast majority of textile waste in Croatia but also in the rest of European Union, ends up "in smoke" or in landfills.
There are many reasons for this state. In Croatia, the system is not developed enough, but the state of affairs is no different in the rest of the Union. Some experts say that almost 90% gets incinerated.
The textile waste is very important. The global textile industry is one of main pollutants, it need a lot of water and is one of most important employers in developing countries which makes the matter extremely complicated.
