Preservation and Recovery of Intangible Cultural Heritage

Many of the central European cultural phenomena listed under the national or UNESCO heritage lack a sustainable approach to their preservation and management. Intangible cultural heritage such as traditions, knowledge, and handicrafts are in danger to be lost if not carefully preserved.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS

Cultural heritage is as unique as the people who create it. The community shapes its cultural heritage by experiencing it together. At the same time, cultural heritage also has an impact on the community in which it is practiced. This mutual relationship has given rise to an extraordinary diversity of cultural heritage and cultural characteristics in Central Europe.

CULTURECOVERY captured this dynamic and made it visible, understandable and useful for locals and tourists alike. We managed to contribute to the preservation of the living heritage of the communities and, thereby, helped preserve the diversity of European cultural heritage.

Our project showed that people really do care about their intangible cultural heritage, are proud of it and want to see it go on to future generations. We could also demonstrate that visitors are interested in intangible cultural heritage of the area they visit, and that they want to learn, feel, research and see the whole picture of the area and the community.

FINAL PUBLICATION

The final publication gives an overview of our CULTURECOVERY project and highlights all of our project outputs and achievements, both on a local and transnational level.
