German Pilot Workshop to Strenghten Multimodal Transport in the Chemical Industry

The project partners from Saxony-Anhalt organized a workshop to strengthen multimodal transport in the chemical industry in the chemical park in Leuna. Chemical companies and logistics service providers met to discuss about shifting chemical transport from the road to multimodal transport.
The first part of the workshop was dedicated to the introduction of the ChemMultimodal project, followed by a presentation of the project "Digitalisation of intermodal transport chains - CT 4.0". With the help of the development of a data hub and standardized interfaces, the project aims to make the logistical process more transparent across the entire intermodal transport chain and national boaders. In the second part of the event, an outlook was presented on future uses of the train formation facility in Halle and the development of 740 m networks within in the Region. Subsequently, results from the pilot projects and potentials for the shift of chemical transports from road to rail were presented and an outlook on further project activities was given. The Workshop closed with the introduction of the Directive for the Development of Logistic Interfaces and Transshipment Techniques for the Combined Transport supporting innovative projects to strengthen multimodal Transport in Saxony-Anhalt.
