Municipality in Slovenia going energy self-sufficient with renewables

6.5.2022

Amongst Slovenia's top energy projects of 2022 is the local energy self-sufficiency project of the Municipality of Loški Potok.

The project is based on the cooperative business model, which is driving the carbon neutrality transition of this territory through three core renewable energy sources: wind, solar and biomass.

Initially the project focused on the development of the district heating network based on biomass. This is now being complemented with a growing number of local solar power plants and up and coming wind farm. The project will be completed in 2025 at which point the local community will be fully energy self-sufficient.
