30.11.2020

On Thursday, November 26th, 2020, director of Medjimurje Energy Agency Ltd., Mr. Alen Višnjić, presented project ENES-CE - Collaboration between public bodies and citizen energy groups in implementing local energy strategies in Central Europe at FEDARENE’s Networking Café. This event has been organised within two-day online General Assembly of FEDARENE - European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment. Over 150 participants from energy agencies from all over Europe and beyond, participated at this virtual event.

To all of them, Mr. Višnjić, presented activities that are being implemented in the scope of the project as well as main goals and objectives. After the revision of current energy plans, a series of workshops will be organised in partner regions through which citizens will be motivated to join the establishment of citizen energy cooperatives or groups.

During the meetings of newly established citizen energy groups, most relevant projects will be identified and one of them will also be implemented through the course of the project ENES-CE. The defined pilot project will be partly financed with Project ENES-CE budget and the remaining funds will be gained through municipality’s budget as well as crowdinvesting methods.

The participants of the FEDARENE event had questions on the implementation methods, but also offered their experience and expertise in the matter. Energy cooperatives in Europe are gaining ever so more importance and more best practice examples are needed to trigger more citizen cooperation in local and regional energy planning.
