Hungarian Coeliac Society advocates for the specific interests of coeliac patients since 1990. Our main task is to inform our members about the gluten free diet and lifestyle. It’s important to raise awareness of coeliac disease among the general public, informing them about the symptoms and the ‘funny’ treatment which is the lifelong and strict gluten-free diet. We inform our members about the risks and complications of the untreated disease and the importance of screening the first degree relatives. Our main success is that since 2015 is obliged to provide gluten-free food in public catering for coeliac children.
Since 1992 we are a member of the Association of European Coeliac Societies and we are active in projects and working groups.
