Insights into professions of female scientists (STEM Day 2019)

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) participated in the event “professions of female scientists” on the 6th of February 2019, which was coordinated by the Advanced Training Centre for Technology and Environment (FTU) at KIT. The event aimed at arousing senior pupil’s interest for professions in the field of the STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The STEM Day, as it is also called, encompassed presentations of exemplary employment careers, work place inspections and open discussions on professions of female scientists in the range of the STEM subjects. The Institute for Automation and Applied Informatics (IAI) contributed to the program with two propositions for workplace inspections and presentations on the topic of Additive Manufacturing. More precisely, this included a visit of the 3D Printing laboratories at IAI and the demonstration of the printers and printing processes. In connection to the STEM Day, the KIT and IAI will also participate in the GirlsDay in Baden-Württemberg, taking place on the 28th of March 2019. The aim of the GirlsDay is to provide pupils from all grades of school with insights into the study and training programs in the field of science and technology at KIT.
