Kick-Off Event “Be.Genuine. within the Biosphere”

Mauterndorf, October 8th 2018 - An intact natural and cultural landscape are essential precondition for a successful tourism. These assets are also a reason why the Lungau was awarded as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 2012. For the protection of the resources and the sustainable development of this region, it is necessary to create framework conditions to raise awareness and to involve and discuss with the local population.

In the framework of CEETO Interreg Central Europe project, which focuses on a common development of intelligent and sustainable approaches for tourism, the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Salzburger Lungau and the Ferienregion Salzburger Lungau invited to the kick-off event “Be.Genuine. within the Biosphere” on the 5th and 6th of October at the Wellnesshotel Eggerwirt****S. The core issue is the promotion, development and implementation of a sustainable and near natural tourism of high quality.

During the event experts from different areas offers insights into topics like health and nature, tourism and nature protection, the particularities of the Biosphere Region Salzburger Lungau as well as visitor steering and trends in tourism. In the workshops on the afternoon regarding the topic’s visitor steering and the design of tourist offers, options, actions and measures where jointly discussed with locals.

The results of the workshops will be considered in the touristic part of the new management plan of the Biosphere Reserve. Afterwards, the Be.Genuine. companies where designated as partner companies. The day was rounded off with a delicious dinner in the smoke kitchen at the Romantikhotel Wastlwirt****.
