The Klinikum der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (KUM) is a center of high-tech medicine. The pediatric gastroenterology unit of the KUM is one of the largest and specialised centers for the diagnosis and therapy of gastrointestinal disorders in Germany. As an expert center for Celiac Disease in children, KUM is the leader of the investigator-initiated Prospective Celiac Disease Diagnostic Evaluation study (ProCeDE), a large collaborative international observational project involving 35 partners in 21 different countries aiming to re-evaluate the possibility to omit the biopsy in selected subgroups. Furthermore, KUM is conducting a pilot survey in Europe concerning the acceptance and implementation of the Celiac Disease and Cow’s milk protein allergy guidelines. KUM is partner in several other studies as e.g. the PreventCD or the TEDDY study.
