Peer eXchange and Learning (PXL) workshop on governance of the Smart Specialisation Strategies

The JRC-managed Smart Specialisation Platform is organising a workshop on governance of the Smart Specialisation Strategies (RIS3) built on the peer-review method.It invites EU countries and regions to reflect on the institutional conditions, procedures and methods for the design and implementation of RIS3.

Workshop invites EU countries and regions to reflect on the institutional conditions, procedures and methods for the design and implementation of RIS3. During this workshop, Östergötland (Sweden), North Karelia (Finland) and Nord-Vest (Romania) will present their experiences regarding S3 governance. The presentations will then be followed by a discussion on key questions, issues and challenges proposed by the partners under review.

This workshop is organised in cooperation with the Innovation and Business development of the Region Östergötland and it will take place in Linköping (Sweden) on 31 January 2019It brings together national, regional and sub-regional policy makers from EU countries, representatives from the European Commission and researchers.

The aim is to explore, among others, the following issues:

·       Innovations introduced in the governance structure at national, regional and/or local levels;

·       Novel practices that mark a clear new working method for the public administration;

·       Main governance challenges that still need to be overcome to design and put in place a RIS3.

·       RIS3 revision process and main governance implications.

This workshop is based on the PXL methodology developed by the Smart Specialisation Platform.
