Can Blockchain be a tool for Social Innovation?

Social(i)Makers has launched a series of webinars that aims at offering additional inspiration and fresh ideas around the core pillars of Social Innovation. The topics chosen are related to the modules of our Social Innovation Academy.

The first webinar will try to explore whether Blockchain can be used to create social innovation. You might have heard about emerging Decentralized Ledger Technologies such as Blockchain in relation to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, but little is said about its potential for social impact. If you are curious about blockchain applications for social innovation, sign up here. The webinar will take place on 29 October 2018 at 12.30-13.30 CET.

In this webinar, Lucas Zaehringer, the founder of positiveblockchain.io will explain how blockchain technologies can be used to create social innovation by:

  • Creating a digital identity for undocumented people
  • Recording social impact and real-life data
  • Incentivizing social behaviors
  • Disintermediating international development work
  • Disrupting markets where data automation and ownership are key (energy, healthcare..)
