Take a virtual site visit to the metro station in Vienna!

09.07.2021

A new, foil-based photovoltaic system is being tested on the roof of a Vienna metro station at the Ottakring metro station by Wiener Linien within the Interreg EfficienCE project. The generated green energy is up to 10% of the metro-station’s monthly energy demand in Spring and Summer months. On the strongest days, the PV system can supply up to 50% of the station’s energy need.

During the transnational webinar on „Planning for energy-efficient metro stations” on 18 May 2021 participants had the opportunity to have a look at the solution through a virtual site visit.

The following videos were introduced to the attendences:

  • the first-time installation of special photovoltaic films,
  • the features of the implemented PV system and
  • the braking energy system
