Tourism stakeholders towards Sustainable Tourism in Slovenia
Tourism stakeholders gathered to support responsible and Sustainable Tourism in Adriation-Ionian region, Slovenia, during the workshop "Sustainable and responsible management of tourism for better attractiveness of the Adriatic-Ionian destination".
The city of Izola (Slovenia), has hosted the regional workshop "Sustainable and responsible management of tourism for better attractiveness of the Adriatic-Ionian destination” held on 12th March 2018. The event was organized by Adrion Facility Point. Regional development centre Koper participated with the presentation of the project CEETO. The workshop is the first practical step in cooperation among stakeholders in tourism.
The EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) is a macro-regional strategy adopted by the European Commission. EUSAIR focuses on areas of mutual interest with high relevance for the Adriatic-Ionian countries. EUSAIR is built on four thematic pillars; one of them is Sustainable Tourism. The main purpose of the Sustainable Tourism pillar is the diversification of the macro-region’s tourism products and services, the improvement of its quality, the innovation in tourism offer and the enhancement of the sustainable and responsible tourism capacities of the tourism actors across the macro-region.

Through the participation of many and different partners from the tourism sector in this country, this initiative aims to strengthen and diversify the tourism offer of the Adriatic-Ionian region as well as to enhance the regional cooperation and the partnerships.
