Rijeka pilot: Workshop with elders and pensioners
The central part of the Rijeka pilot is the establishment of the Citizen Collaboration Platform (CCP), an on-line tool which will allow open communication and interaction with citizens, primarily on gathering the ideas and proposals for use of City-owned infrastructure objects, real-estates and other public spaces. The Rijeka pilot working team has organized a workshop with elders and pensioners on 1st of December 2017 with the support of Rijeka Pensioners’ Association and their clubs. In the Rijeka urban area, there are 15 clubs located in various parts of the City and are available for a large number of retirees and the elderly. This was the 1st official occasion where the idea of CCP was publicly introduced and tested by citizen participation.
A large number of elders and pensioners across the City of Rijeka accepted the invitation to the workshop. During the session, interesting ideas and valuable indicators were collected, such as:
- Participants already have ideas for specific urban locations that could improve their life within the city. They need a platform to express their proposals, and to be taken into account from the local authorities.
- Elder citizens wants more smart solutions in the city: they support smart bus stations and smart benches. They would like to have smart systems for recycling in public places.
- They indicated they would use the CCP mostly from their PCs, not from mobile phones.
- Asked for reward system for proposing high-rated ideas, they agreed that the greatest award would be the actual realization of the proposed ideas. This is considered to be the biggest prize for both the proposer and the community.
This, and many more opinions on name, design, functionality and other issues of CCP were collected during the workshop, and will be embedded in the next version of the platform.
