Opening conference VirtualArch

Best practices in visualization and virtual reconstruction of hidden archaeological heritage

27-28 November 2017, Dresden, Germany

The conference introduces the EU funded INTERREG CENTRALEUROPE 2014-2020 project VirtualArch, which started in July 2017. The main aim is bringing together public representatives and stakeholders in the field of archaeology as well as experts in virtual reality and creative industries. Under the theme "Best practices in visualization and virtual reconstruction of hidden archaeological heritage" we want to present and discuss different approaches in running or completed projects, especially using innovative tools like virtual and augmented reality. Our Guests are dealing with a huge range of hidden archaeological heritage from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages, located in cities and rural areas but also submerged in the sea. The conference results will be taken forward to shape the further work of our transnational project. More specifically, it might show us potential applications to valorize such VR and AR approaches for regional tourism development and spatial conflict management between archaeological heritage protection and other forms of land use.

An important aim of this conference is to offer networking opportunities and foster debate among up to 80 participants from all over Europe. Through your participation, you can help developing issues to be explored further by the project, and be fed into to the further improvement of using information and communications technologies (ICT) unveiling so far non-visible archaeological heritage submerged or underground.

Conference admission is free of charge. For registration to the conference, please fill in and submit the online form until 17 November 2017: http://tiny.cc/VA_Dresden

The conference language is English.
