Workshop On The Spot at the High Modenese Apennines Regional Park, Italy

On October 10th and 11th 2018, two Workshops on the Spot took place in the High Modenese Apennine Regional Park in order to discuss the issues related to the two Pilot Actions planned within CEETO project.

The two Workshops On The Spot took place in Fanano and Pievepelago Municipality offices; the first one focused on the Pratignano lake/peat-bog and the second on the Saint Lake and surrounding areas. The main objective of these workshops was to to discuss the issues related to the two Pilot Actions planned inside the High Modenese Apennines Regional Park as a result of the implementation of CEETO Pilot Actions.

After a brief project introduction by the Emilia Romagna Region, the Park Director introduced the critical issues of the two areas, which are only partially overlapping and, consequently, will require significantly different Pilot Actions. Participants were asked to perform a simulation to identify what are the positive and negative aspects in each Pilot Area that should be protected or, otherwise, significantly modified. All contributions were collected and summarized by Luca Lietti of Agenda 21 Consulting.

The Director of the park and the Emilia Romagna Region representative Mauro Generali presented some proposals for monitoring solutions using Video-Analysis for Pilot Actions at Pratignano Lake and by the only Director for possible solutions for the management, in particular, of vehicle flows at Lake Santo in the different seasons of the year. In the latter case, some proposed solutions gave rise to a heated debate among the participants who, at the moment, still have important divergences of interests. It will be a lively but stimulating participatory process.

To end with, all participating stakeholders were asked to advance their (written) proposals for intervention in the related Pilot Areas, which will be integrated with the existing ones and related scenarios discussed at the next meetings of the participatory process.
