International events participation

Talking around about the INNO-WISEs project! 

In 2019, we presented the INNO-WISEs project in multiple arenas in order to spread the word and to touch a maximum of people! Overall we participated to five multiplier events, in all parts of Europe, from Brussels, to Bucharest, Sheffield, Liverpool, Manchester, Hamburg and Matera!  

ENSIE - ACIG

On the 20th of May, the European Network of Social Integration Enterprises - ENSIE participated to the Annual Convention for Inclusive Growth (ACIG) in Brussels. The theme this year was “Inclusive Growth post 2020: looking at the future of Social Europe”, which is exactly in line with the INNO-WISEs project in which we are helping Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs) to face the digital transition. During this event ENSIE presented the INNO-WISEs project no less than six times during the speed-dating session and the participants who attended the presentation were able to give direct feedbacks on the project, which was a great opportunity to find ways of improvement!  The project is also presented in the event report. 

IPI - Ciriec

IPI - EMES

In June, from the 24th to the 27th, the Ivo Pilar Institute - IPI and School of Advanced Studies in Nova Gorica - SASS participated to the 7th EMES International Research Network which took place in in Sheffield, in the United Kingdom. The conference focused this time on “Sustainable development through social enterprise, cooperative and voluntary action”. During this event, the most significant in Europe for research on social entrepreneurship, Dr. Tea Golob, Prof. Matej Makarovič and Dr. Dražen Simlesa made a presentation on “Objective and subjective socio-economic performance of WISEs in Croatia, Slovenia, and the Italian regions of Lombardy and Trentino.” They based their presentation on researches made in the framework of the INNO-WISEs project and took the opportunity to present the project, its results and its proposals. 

SASS RN 36

On the 20-23rd August, the School of Advanced Studies in Nova Gorica - SASS participated to the 14th Conference of the European Sociological association within the Research network RN36 “Sociology of transformations East and West” in Manchester. During this event, Dr. Tea Golob and Prof. Matej Makarovič presented a paper on “Structural and Semiotic Contexts of Work Integration Social Enterprises in East-Central Europe”, the project and more specifically the role of the project for the WISE development, in terms of ICT skills and tools. They also presented the research findings of WPT 1 and a comparative analysis of the Central European countries in terms of structural and semiotic factors encouraging or hindering the WISEs development, with a special emphasis on the EU role in that regards.

On the 17th of September, the European Network of Social Integration Enterprises - ENSIE participated to an explorative workshop about “Social innovation  - Myth or Reality for Interreg projects after 2021?” organised by the Diakonie Schleswig Holstein with other Interreg projects. This event was an opportunity to exchange between different Interreg projects focused on Social Innovation. ENSIE presented the project as well as the future platform (MOOC, tool list and lessons) and exchanged with other participants. 

FPM Matera

 On the 29th and 31st of October, Fondazione Politecnico di Milano - FPM was in Matera, Italy for the “Sharing Future” conference organised by Gruppo Cooperativo CGM. The aim of the conference was to discuss the future scenarios for the WISEs and social cooperatives and how they can change and improve. FPM was invited to discuss the INNO-WISEs project potentialities in a workshop on “The digital transformation, the social enterprises and the challenge of change”, in front of a public of networks of social enterprises and WISEs and numerous stakeholders. It was also an opportunity to discuss about how social enterprises should start their digital transformation, the tools they can use and how to help them. 

IPI GSEF

On the 18th and 19th of November, the the Ivo Pilar Institute - IPI was at the 3rd edition of the European Policy Dialogue of the Global Social Economy Forum in Liverpool (UK), whose theme was “Building diversity and inclusion through the social and solidarity economy”. IPI used this opportunity to present the INNO-WISEs project during a session on “Moving beyond inclusion through innovative work-integration practices and policies”. The GSEF is an event that gathers public authorities that support social and solidarity economy.

All the project partners are glad to have been able to participate to so many events this year, it was crucial to spread the word about our project and the results we have had so far. We hope we will have other opportunities to present the final results of the project once it is finished!
