Journalist on-site visit at our Polish partners in Rzesow
On the 19th of June 2019, Regional Centre of Social Policy in Rzeszow in cooperation with Rzeszow Regional Development Agency organized the Journalist on-site visit in a future social enterprise which will be set up by the participants of the Polish pilot action.
The group with its working name “Dziupla” (“Hollow”) consists of Dawid, Mateusz, Kacper and Michał, who have passion for, talent and experience in the field of music. They are all friends from Skopanie, a little village in the northwest of Podkarpackie Voivodship with problems such as unemployment, low average income, and a low level of economic development. They are on the right way to set up a social enterprise which will engage in music: it will run a recording studio and organize concerts and music events. The visit took place in the small building rented by “Dziupla” from Commune of Baranow Sandomierski. It used to be a cloakroom of a former football club “KS Baranow Sandomierski”. The group renovated and adjusted the building to their needs. They created a recording studio where at present they record music for their own needs and unofficially for local artists.
The first part of the visit began with the explanation of the pilot action made by the representatives of RRDA and ROPS: justification and assumptions of the pilot action; aims, objectives and the expected results of the pilot action; milestones, main activities, methodology, used tools, schedule etc.
The organizers also explained the role of the main stakeholder – Rzeszow Social Economy Support Centre – in the pilot action, and made a short presentation of all pilot action participants. For example, Klaudia Krzak, who lives in the children’s home of Skopanie, would like to set up a social company which at the beginning would deal with catering services and later on with hotel services. Artur Niedbała, who also lives in the same orphanage, has just finished technical school as an electrician, runs a video blog but would like to have a social enterprise related to computer games (online shop, training services etc.).
The second part of the visit focused on the “Dziupla” – the largest group taking part in the pilot action. This section began with explanation of the background information about each member – education, skills, experience, future plans etc. Afterwards, the group explained the idea for social enterprise – its origin, resources, justification, draft business plan and its milestones, achieved results and plans for the future. The main part of the visit was a 2-hour on-site visit to this emerging social enterprise. The journalists had a chance to see the results of the three months’ work in the building (how it was renovated and arranged), what kind of equipment was gathered and how it is intended to use. The journalists made a photo documentation.
After the visit, the journalists explored the nearby famous monument, the Royal Castle in Baranow Sandomierski and later on returned to Rzeszow.
