First capacity building workshop focusing on West Pomerania

CETC-EGTC Ltd. hosted the first capacity building workshop in the Westpomeranian Region. During the first part of the presentation, the representative of the EGTC, Krzysztof Żarna, presented the aims and results of the completed activities. The results of the baseline study, market potential and bottleneck analysis were discussed with representatives of the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority, Marshal Office of the Westpomeranian Region, University of Szczecin, Maritime University of Szczecin and other stakeholders.

The most crucial issues to tackle by the West Pomeranian region are

  • expansion of the network of operator connections between intermodal terminals and ports,
  • compensation of infrastructure access costs for different modes of transport,
  • expansion of port and intermodal infrastructure, e.g. construction of an intermodal terminal in Szczecin (Dunikowo), modernisation of the Oder Waterway, construction of a deep-water container terminal in Świnoujście
  • Adaptation of railway lines to AGTC and ERTMS standards. 

During the second part of the meeting representatives of the TOR Consultants Group Ltd. - hub of experts that has been developing studies and analyses with the intention of starting a public debate on the changes that should occur in the transport sector -  presented a preliminary list of railway investments necessary for implementation in the Westpomeranian Region.
