Welcome to Brno and its gastronomic heritage
06.09.2019
As part of the pilot activities organized within the Slow Food Central Europe project, the Brno project partners organized tasting exhibitions in June, July, and August to highlight seasonal fruits and vegetables from the South Moravian region. In cooperation with Mendel University in Brno and its Faculty of Horticulture, as well as small-scale local farmers, rare varieties of fruits, vegetables, herbs, and edible flowers were presented. The goal was to show children and the general public the rich diversity of traditional fruits and vegetables that are locally available.
The exhibitions were accompanied by practical hands-on workshops for children and the public to demonstrate and teach traditional recipes and food preservation techniques. The farmers, chefs, and consumers celebrated the joy of cooking and tasting local, fresh, seasonal food together and learned about the rich gastronomic heritage of South Moravia.
