Series of meetings to present and discuss the current state of the TRANS TRITIA project in respect of the Intermodal Logistic Centres/ Terminal Action Plan
Currently the representatives of WPT1 and WPT2 the subject was to present and discuss the current state of the TRANS TRITIA project in respect of the Intermodal Logistic Centres/ Terminal Action Plan.
During the three meetings the representatives visited Euroterminal Slawkow - where presented the main subjects of the Intermodal Logistic Centres/ Terminal Action Plan. The Management Board of Euroterminal Sławków presented the current capacity of the Terminal and the short and medium-term planning development of the facility based on existing transport infrastructure (road, regular and wide gauge railway system) and potential waterway – the Sławków Canal (as a north branch of the Silesia Canal).
Based on forecasted transshipment needs of containers transfer from / to China via Silk Road as well as on planned increased capacity of the wide gauge railway system – an additional connection to Belarus railway system was discussed. The management of the company had to plan to double the current containers transshipment in a span of two – three years for now and to triple it in a span of next five/ seven years.
The Sławków Canal, planned as a part of the Silesia Canal, might be used (after 2035 year) as an additional connection between Asian countries and Western Europe and as a temporary storage for goods transferred to Western European countries like Germany, Belgium.
The second place visited was the Municipality of Rybnik - where the project representatives has met with representatives of Municipalities of Rybnik and Żory. As far as the Municipality of Rybnik is concerned:
- the Eastern bank of Rybnik Lake close to the dam was considered as the best possible location of a tri-modal terminal;
- due to the formal/ ownership aspect – such a location, before being published in the Trans Tritia Action Plan, have to be accepted by the land owner, i.e. PGE Górnictwo I Energetyka Konwencjonalna S.A.;
- the Trans Tritia Project will ask for such permission via the Management of Power Plant Rybnik;
- above mentioned location of tri-modal terminal is fully supported by the Municipality of Rybnik.
The last place to be visited by the project representatives was the Municipality of Bieruń, where was presented the possible site of tri-modal terminals within the premises of Municipality of Bieruń: the Northern bank of Silesia Canal close to Jedlina District was considered as the most suitable to locate the tri-modal terminal.
Thanks to the fruitful discussions with the decision-makers it was possible to develop the TRANS TRITIA Action Plan of the Intermodal Logistic Centres / Terminal.
