LOW-CARB played an integral role in the development of sustainable regional low carbon mobility plans for its partner cities in work package 1.

The urban areas of Brno, Koprivnica and Leipzig developed plans for integrated low-carbon public transport services, while Szeged focused on company travel plans. Parma developed an action plan for multipurpose charging infrastructure for public transport e-services.

The project also proposed strategies on:
i) low-carbon mobility planning;
ii) introducing innovative public transport services;  
iii) open data-based mobility planning.

Capitalising on two investment schemes, five pilot actions, each related to multi-modal public transport planning and innovative low-carb technologies:

• In Koprivnica, bike- and ride-sharing schemes fueled by solar-powered e-bike charging stations will be integrated into the public transport system;
• Leipzig employed multimodal information services to encourage shared mobility int heir action plan.
• Szeged, designed and implemented a wifi counting system for passengers
• Skawina tested an electric bus feeder service in their public transport.

Experiences were shared at a final conference in November 2020.

LOW-CARB developed the following tools:

• GIS Monitoring Tool:
  A framework for monitoring and evaluation of impacts of low-carbon measures and sustainable urban mobility plans (SUMPs), tested by the city of Brno
• SUMP Self-Assessment Tool:
  An innovative instrument that allows regions to self-check the compliance of their regional SUMP processes with EU Guidelines.
• SUMP Central:
  Online portal of supportive resources, networks, and tools for Central European regions to develop SUMPs and low-carbon measures

  Leipzig's isochrone trip planner
